Eugenia Tabler (North)

Born in Alexandria, Virginia; 1826
Began Volunteering as a nurse on July 4, 1862, and continued until the end of the War
Worked at various hospitals in Washington, D.C.
Was known for taking soldiers into her own home and caring for them as well

Susie King Taylor (North)

Born into slavery in Liberty County, Georgia; August 6, 1848
Followed her husband in the 33rd U.S. Colored Troops to serve as a nurse, laundress, and teacher
Volunteered at a hospital in Beaufort, South Carolina
